About Unnat Bharat Abhiyan
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is the flagship programme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, with the intention to enrich Rural India. The Knowledge base and resources of the Institute of the country are to be leveraged to bring in transformational change in the rural developmental process. It also aims to create a vibrant relationship between the society and the higher educational institutes, with the latter providing the knowledge and technology support to improve the livelihoods in rural areas and to upgrade the capabilities of both the public and private organizations in society.
IIT Delhi has been designated to function as the National Coordinating Institute for this Programme.
Government Engineering College, Modasa is participating institute under the Regional Coordinating Institute,
SVNIT, Surat is working as regional coordinator institute under Coordinating institute IIT ,Delhi.
Government Engineering College, Modasa was established in 1984 under the Directorate of Technical Education, Gujarat State, Gandhinagar in North Gujarat region with a view to spread out technical education in the region and hence promote industrial development. The institute was affiliated with Hemchandracharaya North Gujarat University (HNGU), Patan from 1984 to 2007. The institute is affiliated to Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad from 2008. It is recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
