Expert Talk on Effect of Disaster on Urban Development

In this talk, various types of disasters were discussed with their impact on human being by Capt. Dr. C. S. Sanghvi. The program was held on 08/02/2023 on natural disasters that affect our living spaces adversely due to the increasing urban population, the decrease in ecosystem services such as erosion and flood control, irregular and poor-quality construction, global climate change, and insufficient budgets for urban renewal. Disasters can significantly impede the effectiveness of development and resource allocation. The damage is observed in many areas and the impacts can be as complex as the economy itself. The root causes of disasters observed worldwide are obvious and the mitigation measures of disasters were highlighted. Overall, the event was interesting with very good interaction from both sides.
